Winter Capsule
Updated: Jan 31, 2019
Merry & Bright! When dreaming up my winter capsule, I knew I wanted to add more color. With that, came the challenge of making sure that my pieces were still very mixable. I fell in love with a dress at Anthropologie that was mustard color with lavender embroidery. I had never seen those colors together but it totally worked! If you've been following along, you'll see that most of my capsule color inspiration starts this way, with one item. I also found this adorable Free People beanie in bright red, and I knew I wanted to add that color as well. Through previous capsules I have collected enough short sleeve shirts and pants, so for winter I focused solely on long sleeve items. I currently owned 1! Read on for the breakdown of items and links!

American Eagle
This is really where I scored this year! I was so surprised by the quality and comfort of my items that I bought from here in Fall, that I decided to try again, and WOW they did not disappoint! I watched their promotional emails for about 2 weeks (they have a new sale almost every day) and bought them when each piece averaged to be about $20. I picked some bold colors but kept the print simple, and the shape traditional so that they will hopefully last multiple years. They are the most soft fabrics ever, and I find myself already reaching for them first.
Comes in 10 different colors, and is currently under $20! This is a ribbed top and more form fitting. Size up 1 for it to be comfortable, and twice if you want it loose. So so soft!!!

The fit on this shirt is what I always gravitate to, loose and comfy! It is exactly what I expected, and I love that the shade of blue is not something you see very much of. It also comes in more neutral colors. One thing I'm unsure about, is that it comes with cutouts on the sleeve for your thumbs..may be stitching those up.

Another great loose fit! It runs a little large, so if you go between two sizes, size down on this one. It's longer in length, great for skinny jeans! There are small slits at the bottom of the sleeves, but could also be easily stitched up. It comes in 4 colors, one of them being a beautiful blue! Again, so so so soft!

I love love love this color! I waited for this one to be about $25 and it totally would have been worth spending more. It's another one that runs large, so I ended up sizing down 1, but you could probably even size down 2 if you didn't mind sacrificing some of the length. This comes in 6 other colors, with this one being the most out there, aptly named as "unicorn".

I could wear this top everyday. It's easy, comfortable, lightweight and just awesome. The only thing to take note of is that it's not as long as some shirts. It's one that works best with a slightly higher waist pant.

Madewell
The one place I come back to in every capsule. This time, I made it out with 2 tops for $30. For the quality, this is a steal! These pieces arrive in the mail today, so I will update on fit when they come!
Mustard Stripe Tee
Currently sold out because it was only $7.49. Keep watching Madewell sale section, or check your local Nordstrom Rack for Madewell's simple tees.

I liked that this top is plain in color, but had a little more interest in the sleeves, and could be dressed up or down. It looks like it will fit very loosely and be shorter in length. It was only $23 and comes in 3 colors.

Anthropologie
No deal here. Just a very very generous gift I received. This is one of those for keeps pieces. I saw it and immediately loved it! It was 30% off at the time. It will match almost everything in my capsule and is so comfy!

Nordstrom Rack
I found a bright red plaid shirt from Nordstrom Rack that is super comfy and lightweight. It's not searchable on their website, but the brand is Como Vintage. I found one in similar colors for $25 that is Levi's, and I like the color even better on this one!

My beanie pictured above is also still at Nordstrom Rack, and is Free People brand. It has two cute patches and a frost colored pom. It's also not online, but I purchased it within the last two weeks!
That's it! There are so many sales going on right now, and I'm sure they're not stopping anytime soon. A lot of these items would make great gifts and are totally affordable (minus anthro of course :( $$). I will be doing a try-on/review of the clothes in my instagram stories and will save them to my capsule highlight!
Merry Christmas!
