Baby Groot Headband DIY

Let's face it. Girls get all of the cute accessories! I decided to amp up Milo's Disney wardrobe with a playful Groot headband inspired by the movie Guardians of the Galaxy.
This was a fun, quick project that I was able to put together the day before we were headed to the parks. It would also be very cute sewn but ain't nobody got time for that.
All you need is:
Brown, green and black felt (Hobby Lobby)
Small foam sheet (Hobby Lobby)
A couple cotton balls or batting
Baby elastic headband (target, the headband I bought had a flower that I just removed....after trying it on Milo :) )
Hot glue gun
First, cut the felt pieces. Cut the brown felt to the length and height for the person who will be wearing it. I curved the felt around Milo's head to choose the size. The top cuts were chosen based off of looking at images of Groot. I think that making them even more exaggerated would look cute too.
Then cut the foam to be smaller in height and width than the felt. The foam is what will give the piece enough structure to stay up.
Now to sandwich the pieces. Use hot glue to attach the first brown piece around the headband and foam. Spread out two cotton balls to also use as stuffing for the center (Just enough to give it some dimension). When all pieces are connected, attach the final brown felt piece. All edges should be secured with the hot glue.
For the final details: Green felt was used to make leaves and moss on top of Groot's head. I cut all of the leaves in the same shape and pinched the 4 front leaves with hot glue to add some dimension. Use small dots of glue on the leaves that go around the headband so that you don't loose all of the stretch of the headband. Details were drawn out in maroon sharpie. Black felt was used for the eyes, and two small pieces of leftover white foam for a little twinkle!
There are so many variations you can do, from sewing, to using fake floral arrangement leaves and moss. Once complete, make sure to catch the Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off! in California Adventure and stay to meet Groot afterwards so you can show off your adorable baby Groot and snag a pic!
